NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A New Hanover County Firefighter was injured Monday after a fire spread through several homes in the Crestwood Estates neighborhood of New Hanover County.

According to New Hanover County Fire Chief Donnie Hall, Lt. Robert Pate was hit by an electrical line while trying to contain the fire.

Pate was released from the hospital after being checked out. He is waiting to be cleared by his doctor before returning to work.

Firefighters from multiple agencies responded to the blaze.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
