WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A house of God is among the stops on this year's Historic Home Tour.
St. Stephen African Methodist Episcopal Church stands at 501 Red Cross St. It features a sanctuary filled with wooden architecture from the floor all the way to the ceiling. Pastor Wayne Johnson invites the community to step inside to see the beautiful piece of Wilmington history.
"Since 1865, we have been right here at St. Stephens AME Church as we know it today," Pastor Johnson said. "From a small building at first until the very structure that we have now, it is a beautiful structure made by members of the congregation."
You can see it all for yourself during the Historic Home Tour Saturday and Sunday.
