WHA wants public input as CEO search nears end

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- The Wilmington Housing Authority Board of Commissioners wants your help as it nears the end of its search for a new chief executive officer.

The board has narrowed the candidates down to two finalists, according to interim CEO Vernice Hamilton. The board won't yet say who the finalists are, but they hope to bring them in for final interviews soon, Hamilton said.

The WHA wants the people of Wilmington to submit any interview questions they would like the finalists to answer.

Anyone with questions can submit them to or the WHA website or drop off questions to Central Office, 1524 S 16th Street or any of the WHA Property Management Offices. Questions delivered to any of the locations must be in a sealed envelope addressed to G. Vernice Hamilton. Questions submitted will be reviewed and feedback given.

The WHA has been looking for a CEO since the board fired Michael Krause Sept. 12 four days after he was arrested for DWI.
