WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Earlier this week we told you about StarNews reporter Ashley Withers using Twitter to ask actor Isaiah Washington if he would join her to watch his return to "Grey's Anatomy" Thursday night.

Washington told Withers if we at WWAY would join in, it might happen. Well, it looks like it's happening!

Washington has accepted the offer, and plans to live Tweet the episode as he watched with Withers. We will be there, too, and talk to Washington about reprising his role as Dr. Preston Burke seven years after he left the show amid controversy.

"I thought if she was brave enough to ask me, I could be brave enough actually give her a legitimate answer, and I thought it was important to engage the local community," Washington said. "I'm in your community. I'm in Wilmington. I've been hearing a lot of great things about Wilmywood."

All the fun starts at 8 p.m. Thursday on WWAY NewsChannel 3, when ABC airs Washington's last appearance on "Grey's Anatomy" from 2007. In that episode, Burke walks out on his wedding with Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh). Then at 9 p.m., it's an all new episode, where Burke returns as Yang contemplates her future in one of Oh's final episodes as she leaves at season's end.

Then on WWAY NewsChannel 3 at 11, we'll hear from Washington about his return, as well as his movie "The Sin Seer," which started shooting this week in Wilmington.
