WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It’s your voice, your vote.
The fight for North Carolina’s 7th district congressional seat intensifies as new ads pit republican candidates against each other.
You may have seen commercials that say things like this, “The last thing congress needs is another trial lawyer like Woody White,” or this, “One corporation based in Japan paid David Rouzer over $50,000 as a lobbyist for them in congress.”
But all the negativity does not faze republican candidates Woody White, and David Rouzer.
“They learn these dirty tricks in Washington 101,” White said. “That’s where my opponent has been nearly his whole life, and it’s just textbook play.”
“There are some outside groups apparently that are coming in and have come in,” Rouzer said. “And I think it’s important to say, I don’t have any control over the content of their advertisements.”
Harsh advertisements White says are last ditch efforts to curb the votes.
“The Washington lobbyists and special interest come to the rescue of their ‘yes’ man, and that’s the opponent,” White said. “That’s what we’ve expected, and we know the only thing that matters is the votes on Tuesday. We’re winning and we’re excited about that.”
“Mr. White has been talking very negatively about me since day one,” Rouzer said. “And that is the direct signal from any candidate in any race that they are behind, and that they are losing, and they got to make up ground.”
But time is running out for candidates to make their case ahead of Election Day Tuesday.
