Man charged for breaking into Leland store, stealing lottery tickets

LELAND, NC (WWAY) -- A Leland man is charged with breaking into the front door of a convenient store and stealing thousands in lottery tickets from inside.

Brunswick County deputies arrested Derreck Edge, 27, of Leland, after they say he busted through the front of Tommy's Mini Mart on Mt. Misery Road early yesterday morning.

Detectives later discovered lottery tickets were missing from the store. That's when they asked for the public's help in identifying the man responsible for both breaking in and larceny, ending with Edge's arrest.

According to his arrest warrants, Edge stole around $5,000 in lottery tickets from the store. He is behind bars at the Brunswick County Jail under $10,000 bond.
