CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) -- An apparently planned fight between two teenagers might have led to a stabbing at a fast food restaurant in Carolina Beach Friday. But, witnesses said the teens who wanted the brawl didn't even end up in it.
New Hanover County deputies confirmed there was a stabbing. Police said one person was detained, and the person who was stabbed was taken to the hospital. But, they have not released any names or charges, if any, from this incident.
However, witnesses had a lot to say. They said a knife was pulled after two young men met at the Carolina Beach McDonald's to fight over a girl. Now, they are in shock that it went that far.
Marc Sestrich, 15, said it was supposed to be him in the fight but his friend jumped in first. He said he and his friends were sitting outside the fast food restaurant when the opposing group approached. Sestrich said some threats were exchanged, then a knife was pulled, and his friend was stabbed in the arm.
After the stabbing, witnesses said the man with the knife ran away. Sestrich said he feels like it's his fault.
"He was sending pictures of a gun to me, or to her saying he was gonna shoot me and stuff. And, I was like, 'Alright dude, I'm gonna bring a couple of friends. You're gonna bring a couple of friends. They're gonna be there to make sure no one jumps in and we were gonna go fight on the beach.' Until it all escalated to my friend getting stabbed in the arm," Sestrich said.
