Two men injured when Morehead City boat explodes

MOREHEAD CITY, NC (AP) -- North Carolina officials are investigating after a boat exploded in a marina, forcing two men to a hospital.

The dock master at the Morehead City Yacht Basin says the two men filled up their gas tank Saturday morning before going out on the water. Mike Pollard says the owner bought the used boat the day before in Oriental.

Pollard says the 28-foot Carolina Classic fishing boat moved to the other side of the dock, then wouldn't start about twenty minutes later when the men were trying to leave. Dock hand Andrew Newton says he was on his way to get a battery charger when he heard the explosion.

Officials say the two men aboard were found on the dock suffering from injuries and taken to Carteret General Hospital.
