LELAND, NC (WWAY) – Ron Watson was looking for a way to make a difference in the world after leaving his career in the United States Air Force and he found it as teacher. The fifth grade Social Studies teacher at Lincoln Elemenatary School in Leland is our Teacher of the Week. Nominated by several students, it's clear Mr. Watson has a deep devotion for learning and close ties to his students. He uses his military training to bring real world examples to the classroom and the kids say that's what keeps interested and engaged. His number one goal is to prepare kids for life's challenges and to inspire them to make good choices. As an athlete, Mr. Watson also wanted to show boys at Lincoln Elementary that learning isn't limited to the classroom. He established the very first boy's running club and it has been a roaring success. For the students at Lincoln a second career for Mr. Watson has meant all the difference in the world
