WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- After two investigations, investigators said they made two heroin busts.
The New Hanover County Vice and Narcotics Unit took Carl Scott, Markee Scott and Deshawn Hankins into custody Wednesday in the Market North Housing Complex during a traffic stop. Investigators said they found cash, a loaded .45 Caliber pistol, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Later that day, investigators executed a search warrant at 2616 Confederate Drive. That's where they said they found more cash, and heroin packaging materials.
Investigators said they began looking into Carl Scott and several of his associates in April. They said they bought heroin from him several times in the Wilmington area.
Carl Scott is accused of trafficking heroin, and Markee Scott and Hankins are accused of conspiring to traffic heroin. The three face several other charges as well. Each is at the New Hanover County Detention Facility. Carl Scott is under a $5 million bond. Markee Scott is under a $1 million bond and Hankins is under a $77,000 bond.
The second investigation began in February. Investigators said they purchased heroin several times from Harlee Barsheen Tomer who is accused of trafficking heroin in New Hanover and Brunswick Counties.
On May 1, investigators arrested Tomer and said they found heroin on him. Tomer is behind bars under $5.5 million secured bond.
