PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Pender County’s top cop will have another chance at re-election.

Carson Smith again won the Republican nomination for sheriff, picking up more than 70 percent of the vote. He now faces Democrat Scott Lawson this fall.

Redistricting for the Pender County Commission forced two sitting commissioners into the same district.

In the Republican primary David Williams kept control of District 1 after he beat out Chester Ward.

  • Big says:

Well done Sheriff Carson Smith! We are glad that “WE”, the people elected you again!

  • Man says:

Good job Sheriff, It sounds like a butt kicking to me. LOL

  • T says:

Im glad that the people saw that Nichols is an idiot. He lies, about stuff, and he is “dirty” The joker says that he is a bad a$$ cop whatever it is that he comes from, and yet, he can only work as a hospital rental cop. Get out of here!!

Im sure that their is a good reason why he is not a cop any where else. Maybe now, the truth will come out about his previous dirty behavior. LOL.

As far as lawson, the guy got arrested for DWI, I don’t think that the people are going to vote a guy like that as Sheriff.

  • L says:

I guess is time for Nichols to pick his sings. Obviously we are not going to vote for you.
