WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It looks like UNCW Chancellor Gary Miller will not be moving to Ohio.

Youngstown State University’s Board of Trustees this morning during an emergency meeting voted unanimously to offer the school’s presidency to former YSU and Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel. The chair of the board says Tressel has accepted the offer in principle, though, contract terms still need to be worked out.

Tressel was also up for the top job at the University of Akron, where he currently serves as Executive Vice President for Student Success.

Miller is also a finalist for the president’s position at SUNY Buffalo State and for chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

While he spoke earlier this week to media in Youngstown as part of his interview process on campus, Miller has not spoke to Wilmington media about his desire to find another job. A UNCW spokeswoman said Miller did not want to be a distraction ahead of commencement, which starts today and continues tomorrow at UNCW.
