WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police say if you hear gunshots around 6 p.m. it may just be a test.

WPD will run a test this afternoon to expand ShotSpotter coverage in the Port City.

The test will be in the area near Mercer Avenue, Forest Hills, the 600 block of North 23rd Street, East Wilmington and the Turnkey area.

While WPD advises these are simply their own tests, residents are always advised to call 911 if they see anything suspicious.
