WAYNE COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Wayne County minister has pleaded guilty to receipt of child pornography in federal court, the US Attorney’s Office says.

Timothy Jack Strickland, 42, faces up to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced Aug. 18.

Strickland used to be pastor of Jones Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church in Mount Olive.

Prosecutors say in March 2013, a FBI Task Force officer attending training chatted online with Strickland. During the chat, the agent saw that Strickland’s directory contained child pornography files. Investigators later served a search warrant at Strickland’s home, where they seized a laptop, several hard drives and other media devices. Computer forensics found about 11,000 images of child porn.
