WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Police are searching for a man they say used a gun to rob a man on his bicycle selling ice cream in the Long Leaf Park area yesterday.

Wilmington Police say just after 4:30 p.m. they got a call reporting the crime in the 2700 block of Vance Street. They say Juan Sanchez told officers he was riding his bike through the park when a white man in his 20s walked up and ordered a popsicle from him. Police say when the robber reached for the popsicle he paid for, he pulled out a small black revolver and held it to Sanchez's head. That's when officers say the man demanded cash, saying "Give me all your money" in Spanish.

When Sanchez handed over the money, police say the robber took off running from the area, getting away. They say the man they are looking for is a white man in his 20s, wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. Police say the robber was wearing a bandana over his face during the robbery.

There's no word on how much cash the robber got away with. Police say investigators are still looking into tips and leads they got during their search yesterday.

Does anyone think it is odd

Does anyone think it is odd to sell ice cream on a bike?

There are such things as

There are such things as bicycle ice cream carts. You can easily search them on the internet.

...a white man in his 20s,

...a white man in his 20s, wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. I just saw him!!!

There has got to be more to this story ...

Did the ice cream vendor think it was a bit odd when a man with "a bandana over his face" approached him in the first place? Why did he not attempt to immediately get away? Yet he stayed put and sold the bandana-wearing man a popsicle which the perp "paid for"? Since when do robbers "pay for" things and THEN rob people? Nothing about this story makes sense at all...

Can't warm up to this story either

While it's entirely possible that this guy was actually selling ice cream .....

I don't seem to recall ever seeing an ice cream vendor on a bicycle: not much of a refrigeration system on a two wheeler. One can only wonder if this vendor was also purveying something of a more nefarious nature as well.
