WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Battleship North Carolina has received another big donation for its capital campaign to repair the ship’s hull and help preserver the state’s World War II memorial.

The Battleship today announced BB&T has donated $500,000 to the project.

“The Battleship North Carolina is privileged to receive this significant donation,” Battleship Executive Director Capt. Terry Bragg said in a news release. “BB&T has been one of the longest and strongest supporters of the Battleship NORTH CAROLINA and we are pleased to continue this relationship.”

BB&T’s donation joins other big contributions, including $250,000 from the Wells Fargo Foundation, $1 million from the Duke Energy Foundation and $500,000 from the Office of State Budget and Management’s Repair and Renovation Contingency Reserve
