NC scientists to issue 30-year sea level forecast

READ MORE:

ATLANTIC BEACH, NC (AP) -- A North Carolina commission has decided to ask scientists to only make a 30-year prediction of how fast the ocean will rise off the state's coast.

The NC Coastal Resources Commission caused an uproar in 2010 when its scientists predicted ocean levels off North Carolina would rise more than 3 feet over the next 100 years. Lawmakers asked the commission to develop a new forecast, and the panel voted Thursday on the new time frame.

Commission Chairman Frank Gorham III says the 30-year prediction will have more credibility and the commission will get updates every five years so they can react if the sea level rise prediction increases.

Commission member Bob Emory voted against the proposal. He says a 100-year forecast should be issued along with a 30-year forecast.

Since the seas are still two

Since the seas are still two feet + lower than they were on the day Julius Caesar was killed, and since most of the computer models used to predict 'gwobal warming' have been proven to be as wildly innacurrate as the 5 day forecasts tend to be... sure, lets throw more money at this wierd cult of AGW. Isn't the state facing a

Isn't the state facing a budget shortfall? How much is this useless study going to cost and how many legitimate state jobs are going to have to be cut in order to fund this nonsense?

no trust in "scince"

Jeeeesus don't have no science wy should we? kill the peeeples with water is His will

I don't put a lot of faith

I don't put a lot of faith in a 5 day forecast. A 30 year projection is science fiction.

This isn't a weather

This isn't a weather forecast, this is long term climate prediction developed by professional scientist. Predictions are based on over a hundred years of observed data along with thousands and thousands of years of data collected from dozens and dozens of different sources.

Faith?

Thats why you are confused.
Faith has nothing to do with science.
Science is the study of fact faith is belief in whatever....

BTW - considering some of the biblical prophecies of raining fire etc why wouldn't a person of faith believe in climate change?

Anyway - you are also confusing weather and climate.
If you don't know the difference try reading up on it.
Its kinda like saying we we had the warmest month on record here - which has what to do with GLOBAL warming or cooling? We might have the COLDEST winter in years but the weather in Australia was SO HOT as to completely over whelm the affect of our cold winter on a global scale.

The question seems to revolve around whether humans have/had an influence.
Doesn't matter - if warming happens, and oceans rise Manhatten and other parts of the seaside will be under water and considering where 80% of our population lives this won't be good.......

Science Deniers

NC's #1 Science Denier David Rouzer helped get this law passed last year. I'm so happy the sea won't rise now!
