WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- A Wilmington man was arrested after police say he was intoxicated when he was caught and arrested for firing a rifle out of a bedroom window yesterday afternoon.
Police say around 3 p.m. Lee King, 66, was reportedly shooting a gun out of an upstairs window at his home in the 700 block of Campbell Street. They say residents living there with King called dispatchers to report the crime.
Police say when they got to the home officers first evacuated the house, sending several schools to go under lock-down while they searched the area. After investigating near and around the property, police say that's when they discovered the .22 rifle in King's bedroom.
King is in the New Hanover County Jail under $22,000 bond for firing the gun within city limits, along with possession of a firearm by a felon. Police say no one was hurt in the shooting.
