WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- NC Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker was in Wilmington today to check out Castle Branch and how the company is making good on its promise to create hundreds of jobs with the help of state and local incentives.
The employment screening company recently added about 60,000 square feet to its headquarters near Mayfaire. The new space will include recreation areas and even a small brewery plus a technology business incubator called tekMountain.
CEO Brett Martin says Wilmington has the potential to be one of the next technological hubs.
"We believe Wilmington could definitely be a technological center," Martin said. "We have the beach. We have great people. There's no reason we can't make us one of those next centers."
tekMountain gives workspace to technology-based businesses looking for growth. Castle Branch employees can also use the incubator to grow their own businesses, which gives them access to the company's 4 million clients.
