Miller pulled out of Buffalo State search ahead of selection

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- SUNY Buffalo State has selected its new president, and it's not UNCW Chancellor Gary Miller.

A UNCW spokeswoman confirms Miller withdrew his name from consideration for the New York job earlier this week for personal reasons. The SUNY Buffalo State search committee announced today the State University of New York's chancellor will recommend to SUNY's Board of Trustees Katherine Conway-Turner, Provost and Vice President Academic Affairs at Hood College in Maryland as Buffalo State's ninth president.

Miller is still in the running for the chancellor position at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, where he is one of five finalists. Officials there will meet Monday to vote on their selection.

I am glad he is finally

I am glad he is finally leaving UNCW.

The elephant in the room

Why is it that: Everywhere else except here, Gary Miller"s reputation as the wrong man for the job apparently has preceded him, while the folks who run UNCW remained totally in the dark about all that until after he was hired?

Perhaps they spend too much of their time, and other people's treasure, tilting at imaginary windmills such as appealing the March jury verdict in Adams v. UNCW and the April order denying UNCW's request for a new trial."
