BURGAW, NC (WWAY) -- A second suspect wanted in connection with a string of car break-ins this spring is in jail after being arrested yesterday.
Police say around 10 a.m. yesterday Pender County Deputies responded to a suspicious person call near the Food Lion in Rocky Point. They say they found Tyrekic Murphy, who ran away. Deputies caught him after a short chase.
The Sheriff's Office turned Murphy, 17, over to Burgaw Police for outstanding warrants from a spree of car break-ins, including 21 felony counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, 11 counts of felony possession of stolen property and 11 misdemeanor larcenies. Deputies also charged Murphy with resisting an officer, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Last week police arrested Michael Scott Rivenbark for the car break-ins, but had been looking for Murphy.
