Second suspect charged in Surf City bar assault

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) -- A second suspect has been charged in connection to the assault of a Marine and a woman at a Surf City bar last month.

Daniel M. Oczkowski Jr., 21, a Camp Lejeune Marine, was charged yesterday with accessory after the fact for the attack at Sandbar Saloon May 11. He was booked into the Onslow County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond.

Last week police charged a PFC Joseph Bruce Henry, a soldier stationed at Fort Bragg, for assault inflicting serious bodily injury and assault on a female.

Investigators say he assaulted a 25-year-old Marine breaking the man's jaw and knocking out numerous teeth requiring surgery. Investigators say Henry also assaulted a woman who was with the Marine.

At the time, police said they knew who the second suspect was. They were waiting until he cam back from deployment before releasing his name.
