WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — One Seahawk graduate is gearing up to hit the streets, traveling thousands of miles on a skateboard, all in honor of his father and charities that help military communities.

Shayne Carlson now calls Wilmington home after graduating from UNCW last year, but even before his college career was complete, he was spearheading skateboarding trips in an effort to give back. Much like his adventure in 2010 called 'Chief Coast to Coast' Carlson is inspiring another adventure that stretches thousands of miles in memory of his father, who was killed overseas as a special operations Soldier.

In preparation for the trip that will take Carlson and three others all the way from Anchorage, Alaska to San Diego, California, the group is hosting a fundraiser to garner support and awareness for the charity benefiting from it all, the Red Circle Foundation.

Carlson stopped by Good Morning Carolina to share his story, and talk about the trip, which will take the group more than 3,000 miles. Watch the full interview for more information, or click here to visit their facebook page.
