Police searching for suspect they say robbed Wilmington cab driver

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Police are investigating after they say a customer robbed a Wilmington cab driver Wednesday night, getting away with cash.

They say the crime happened near the 2300 block of 18th and Nun streets around 11 p.m. That's when police say a customer took the cab to Mugsy's Pub, then calling the same cab driver about 20 minutes later to get a ride elsewhere.

Officers say when the cab driver got to 18th and Nun Street to drop the man off for the second time, the customer asked the driver for change. When the cab driver pulled out the change he asked for, police say the customer took the money and took off running.

Wilmington Police say the suspect is described as a white man in his 30s, who is around 6'2" and weighs about 180 to 195 lbs. Anyone with information is asked to call WPD.

Hmmmm, I wonder why this

Hmmmm, I wonder why this particular "jump and run" made the news? I've reported dozens over the years and never once heard from a reporter. (I won't get in to the fact that is it IMPOSSIBLE to be in the 2300 block of 18th & Nun St - really?)
The driver pulled out "the change he was looking for"?? Hopefully that was the no more than $20 any smart driver would keep available......
Lot's of weird in this story, glad the driver is okay, glad he's not one of mine. I'd be second guessing his ability to be a cab driver at this point.....

too bad...

...he wasn't hit by a bus.
