Nicholas Sparks film 'The Longest Ride' to start Wilmington shoots Monday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- The City of Wilmington has received the first applications for a filming permit for the movie "The Longest Ride," which is based on the Nicholas Sparks book of the same title.

The first permit is to shoot interior classroom scenes Monday at St. Mary Catholic School on Ann Street.

The movie, starring Scott Eastwood, Britt Robertson and Alan Alda, intertwines the lives of a young couple with an old man as he reflects back on a lost love while he's trapped in an automobile crash.

"The Longest Ride" will shoot June 17 inside the Temple of Israel synagogue and do outside scenes in the 100 block of S. 4th St.
