Former NC Congressional candidate Breazeale loses SC race

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- A new name could not keep a former North Carolina Congressional candidate from the same Election Day fate in South Carolina.

Will Breazeale, who twice ran to represent southeastern North Carolina in the US House, lost his bid tonight for South Carolina Adjutant General. Breazeale, on the Palmetto State's Republican primary ballot under the name James Breazeale, lost to incumbent Maj. Gen. Bob Livingston by a 3-1 margin, according to unofficial returns.

Breazeale was the Republican nominee for North Carolina's 7th District House seat in 2008. He lost to incumbent Rep. Mike McIntyre in the general election. Two years later he lost to Ilario Pantano in the Republican primary for the seat.

The military veteran and airline pilot later left North Carolina for Florida, where last year he was arrested and charged with stalking his estranged wife. He then relocated to South Carolina and soon launched this election bid to command South Carolina's National Guard.
