WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Some burglars in Wilmington thought they had a good idea. They sprayed black paint on the outside security cameras of a business they planned to burglarize. But, they forgot to follow through with the ones inside.
Now, Wilmington Police have video of the suspects they say stole seven firearms from Port City Guns & Ammo around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
The store owner says he is not surprised burglars targeted him.
"It's just a telling of the times," Jacob Foil said. "I mean, the crime rate everywhere has gone up recently, and people are just looking for targets of opportunity. So, I'm not surprised they picked a gun shop to come into."
Foil says he has faith in WPD's ability to find and convict the criminals, and he hopes they will be able to keep the weapons off the street.
