Was there ever any doubt

Was there ever any doubt that the taxes wouldn't go up? CC was a bust even before it was built. We all knew the tax papers would foot the bill, even then.

Just to touch

on a few of the hard to find topics in that 88 page monster:

Wilmington Business Development up 2% to $86,087

Wilmington Downtown up 2% to $65,216

Wilmington Regional Film Comm up 2% to $117,502

Wave is hard to track from prior $1,289,000 subsidy

Everyone's personal favorite -- Civic Center aka The Mayor's Folly:

Operating Costs up 17% to $3,779,330

Debt Service -- stagnant $4,228,982

There's also a line item for a special project for the CC 05ED10 at $5,056,122. Not a whole lot of specifics about this 1.

Excluding the special project, the Civic Center's 2 line items equal 6% of the total budget.

It's a nice 88 page document with a lot of redundancy, charts, and graphs. You almost need a machete to hack through some of it.

re: Just to touch...

Didn't Mayor Snafu and his band of merry men...and a woman...say the White Elephant would be self-sustaining financially? ;)

I'm not even touching

that one.

I would like to know what that special line item denotes.

If they did this well with "The Folly"; think of the havoc they would have spread with a taxpayer funded ballpark.
