Tar Heel plant should reopen Friday morning

TAR HEEL, NC (WWAY) -- It looks like factory workers at the Smithfield plant in Tar Heel won't be headed back to work until tomorrow.

The pork packing plant has been shut down since an ammonia leak Tuesday morning.

Smithfield representatives thought they would have the factory up and running this afternoon, but they had some electrical issues that delayed the cleaning process. They say the plant should be ready to start production first thing tomorrow morning.

Avoid their 'products.'

If you knew anything about this plant and the way they run their business, you wouldn't eat anything that came out their doors. Haven't touched a Smithfield product in about 8 years and never will again. Get online to and go that route.
