WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Leland mom says she plans to use the money she won playing the lottery for her kids’ education and a family trip.

Amy Franke plans to save for her children’s college education after scratching off the $150,000 top prize in the Green & Gold game. Franke learned of her big win after purchasing her lucky $5 ticket at the Buy and Go located on Ploof Road in Leland.

“I especially enjoy playing the scratch off games, because you find out if you’re a winner instantly,” Franke said, according to a news release from the North Carolina Education Lottery. “I looked at my ticket every day after winning, because I still couldn’t believe it.”

After state and federal taxes were withheld, Franke got a check for $103,801. She said she also plans to use a portion of her winnings to take a family trip to Disney World.

You seriously didn’t read the article, did you? For that matter, you didn’t read the headline. She is setting aside money for her kids to go to college, but using a portion of her winnings to take a trip. She’s not blowing it all.
