RALEIGH, NC (AP) — A senior at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington is the new Miss North Carolina.
Beth Stovall won the pageant Saturday night in Raleigh. She will go on to the Miss America pageant in September.
Stovall was Miss Greater Sampson County. She won both the preliminary talent and lifestyle and fitness awards.
Stovall says her platform will be getting children inspired and interested in art.
Miss Cabarrus County McKenzie Faggart finished second, Miss Johnston County Kensley Leonard finished third, Miss Central Carolina Victoria Huggins was in fourth place and Miss Thomasville Kacy Lee came in fifth.
Stovall finished in the top 10 in last year’s state pageant. She says she wants to be the first Miss America from North Carolina since 1962.
