WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Cape Fear area is certainly blooming with that summertime feeling all around. But blooms aren’t the only thing you will see spreading color around town this weekend.

The Wilmington Art Association is kicking off its Inaugural Budding & Blooming Art Show Saturday, featuring area artists of all ages who will be showing and selling their work. Many of the event’s participants are children, with dozens of different masterpieces the community can see and buy to take home.

Some of the participants paint and do photography, while others craft anything from pottery to beaded bowls, all the way to one young boy who uses duct tape for his work. One of the children exhibiting her work Saturday gets creative with anime art, and says she can’t wait to see her hard work on display.

The art show starts up at Mayfaire Town Center from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., giving the community a chance to check out, buy and also support these artists looking to take their talents to the next level. Organizers say they hope this event not only brings the community together, but inspires other young children to use their creativity, too.
