BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- Folks enjoying beach day in Oak Island Tuesday afternoon didn't seem to be too worried about Tropical Storm Arthur.

Vacationers and locals participated in the annual Beach Day Celebration all day long, enjoying the beautiful weather and all the festivities.

"We've been in beach mode not paying attention much to the weather," said Kathy Verdeschi, who is vacationing from Charlotte.

Folks at this year's Beach Day are just happy to play games and catch some sun, taking part in volleyball, cornhole and bocce ball tournaments.

"A little tropical storm is not gonna dampen anything for us," Oak Island Town Councilmna Jeff Wainecoff said.!"

Even if Arthur does come this way, many vacationers don't plan to be chased away.

"Oh we're staying," Verdeschi said. "We're not going anywhere. We're here. We're gonna ride it out."
