WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are looking for answers after a woman riding in the back the back seat of a car was shot in the leg Friday night.

Police say Jaquelle Parker, 22, was seated behind the driver when she was hit.

They say the driver was dropping off a passenger at the Market North Apartments when the car full noticed a crowd in the street watching fireworks, and pulled over to do the same.

Investigators say the victim heard several gunshots but never saw where the bullets came from.

The driver brought Parker to the hospital and police were unable to locate a crime scene in the 1100 block of Darlington Avenue.
