WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — At Greenfield Lake Park, kids got a hands-on lesson on what it means to be a search and rescue K-9.

Jorga is more than just a pretty face. She finds missing kids, hidden evidence and even lost keys.

Handler Randy Searls says Jorga also helps find those missing in disasters, and this 16-month-old Dutch Shepherd already has some big accomplishments under her collar.

“She’s had a couple body discoveries already,” Searls said. “She has found evidence that has turned cases.”

Searls speaks to Jorga in German to avoid any confusion when on the job.

And when she’s not working as the only full-time search and rescue K-9 in our area, Jorga likes to educate kids by giving them plenty of love and kisses.

Oh my God! This is incredible! I’ve had a family member missing for 7 years. How can I reach the trainer? By the way I can’t find my car keys either.
