Deputies looking for suspect who has avoided them for months

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- Brunswick County Sheriff's detectives need help finding a Shallotte man they've been looking for for months on multiple charges.

According to warrants, on Jan. 22, Justin Divon Griffin went to a woman's home in Ash and would not leave. Investigators say he hit the woman in the left eye, and while she was holding their child, assaulted her by brandishing a a pair of scissors in her face. They say he then took her iPhone so she could not call for help.

Griffin, 31, is wanted for assault on a female, domestic criminal trespassing, misdemeanor child abuse, assault with a deadly weapon with a minor present, misdemeanor larceny and interfering with emergency communication.

Investigators say Griffin also has outstanding warrants for various other charges. The NC Department of Corrections website shows he has a history of drug convictions.

Anyone with information on where Griffin is should contact the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office at (910) 253-2777 or call 911.
