WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Police are investigating after they say two teens used a gun to rob a construction crew when the group of workers went to get food from a Wilmington restaurant near their work site.

Wilmington Police say it happened just after 1 a.m. at the Checkers restaurant in the 1900 block of Oleander Drive near the Food Lion there, where officers say the construction crew of six was working on a job. Police say the crew told them they were eating their food when two teens approached them with a handgun.

When officers responded to an area near the Food Lion, they say they the crew told them the teens were ages 14 to 15, both wearing all black clothing at the time of the robbery. Police say the workers told them the duo took off running towards the railroad tracks nearby afterwards.

There's no word on what the two teens got away with when they robbed the crew.

Waste of time

This city is really messed up as far as crime, and I've traveled all around this country.I'll never come back to this city without carrying, just because of idiots that want to take from hard working ppl.Seems like armed robbery is the thing to do here, and too many ppl are getting away with it.No one really carries cash anymore,cc's get cancelled almost immediately so it's a waste of time. The victims were cable techs(data), not construction workers. These kids got lucky, maybe not so next time though.

isnt it sad...

That this is what these guys will forever remember of our town? They will likely never come back here for a job, either. I know many people who wont move back or even visit bc of our increased crime. Its sad.

not all

Hey lucky criminals. Many of us carry. Not a good idea. You were lucky this time around.

WAY TO GO MOM AND

WAY TO GO MOM AND DAD!!!!...Can we charge the parents if these kids get caught. How can you even care about your children if they are 14 and 15 and running around at 1am with guns. This is why your kids have no future. It not the "MAN" holding you down its your family and so called friends.....

How do you know there is a Dad

How do you know there is a Dad. Chances are there isn't. That is one of the main problems with our youth today and Gang involvement as well. There are NO Dads. How do you know that Mom doesn't work two jobs or that she is trying but the troubled youth will not obey. Yes, I know, kick them out. It isn't that easy. Instead of harping on the Parents or in this case the lack of parental guidance, why don't YOU, yes YOU find a single mom and offer to help her. Instead of turning the other way because it doesn't effect you personally. You're right it's not the MAN holding you down, he isn't around. These kids growing up without Dad's often follow the same path, produce children but do not raise them. It takes a whole village to raise a child. Oh, and just telling someone, call me if you need something is a crock. Actually do something.

I have two young sisters I

I have two young sisters I have helped raise since my Father passed away 14 years ago when they were 4 and 6. Their mother (my step mother) is a real piece of work. She left the girls stranded in a home with no power and water so she could run off with a man. That was 12 years ago. I raised those girls along with my sister. My mother was single up until I was 16. I lived in garden lake estates, and other low income areas as a youth. Now I own my own business and all four of my sisters have good jobs and no criminal record. My father wasn't around when I was younger and I have done great for myself. Like I Said WAY TO GO MOM AND DAD. A mom that chose to spread her legs for some lowlife.. A "Dad" that chose to not be around. These were choices that could have been made differently. And by the way I have volunteered for the big buddy program and YMCA outreach programs. It's sad that others have to step in for dead beats that keep having kids!!...Trust me I know.....

You are the perfect example...

...of good thinking, enthusiasm, stick-tuitiveness and success! You really pulled it all up by the bootstraps and made good things happen for yourself and your family. You should be very proud of what you've done and I hope you will share your story with all of those you encounter that need a little nudge to get ahead! There is no better success than what you've achieved!

I was going to respond about

I was going to respond about there has to be a dad in order for there to be a kid. And that some "dads" just ignore their responsibilities and that's assuming they even know that they have a kid. You put it a lot better than I ever could.

You are to be commended for the things you have accomplished in your life. The world would be a better place if there were more people like you in it.

oh where is that train when

oh where is that train when you need it!!!

Shows just how dumb these teens are

These teens are beyond stupid. They choose a construction crew to rob? Really? I'm shocked that the construction crew didn't beat some sense into their empty brains.

In fact

Pretty smart. Most construction guys ha.ve plenty of cash and are not usually credit card holders.Maybe illegals who wouldn't report also
