RALEIGH, NC (AP) -- An independent political group plans to spend more than $1 million over the next two weeks for a television ad critical of North Carolina Republican Senate nominee Thom Tillis by trying to link him to conservative financiers.
A spokesman for the Patriot Majority USA says the commercial started Tuesday in most TV markets in the state. The ad's narrator accuses the state House speaker of treating Charles and David Koch "like family." The brothers have given substantially to the conservative Americans for Prosperity. That group has run ads targeting Tillis' rival, Democratic incumbent Kay Hagan.
The Patriot Majority ad mentions laws approved last year in Raleigh that cut income tax rates for corporations and individuals but provided no pay raises to teachers.
Patriot Majority ran another anti-Tillis ad in February.
