WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Wilmington Post 10 earned a trip to the American Legion World Series last year. Several of the Post 10 players are about to embark on the 2014 state tournament. The winner of the state tournament will earn a spot in the SE championship tournament in Asheboro in early August. The Southeast champ will advance to the 2014 American Legion World Series in Shelby. With all that as background information, it's going to take a lot of victories over the next few weeks for Post 10 to match their success from 2013.

Wilmington Post 10 was scheduled to play Hope Mills tonight(Tuesday) in order to determine the Area 2 champion. The game for the second night in a row had to be postponed due to wet field conditions. Post 10 has been declared the Area 2 champ. Hope Mills has been declared the runner-up for Area 2.

Wilmington Post 10 will be attempting to become the first American Legion team from North Carolina to win three consecutive state championships. Overall Wilmington Post 10 has ten state titles in American Legion baseball.
