Post 10 players prepare for state tournament

*** UPDATE: July 25th... Gaston County beat Wilmington Post 10 4-3 on Friday. Post 10 will now have to fight through the loser's bracket to win the double elimination tournament.

WILMINGTON,NC (WWAY) -- The Wilmington Post 10 players practiced Wednesday afternoon. It was their final tune-up before the state tournament for American Legion baseball, which begins on Friday. Wilmington will open play against Gaston County. Scott Sandlin is the Post 10 head coach. "I feel great. I've lost about 45 pounds. I had a (medical) scare at the beginning of the year. The kids were really good about keeping things going. These kids give up a lot to be here in the summer, so it was the least I could do, not going at it as hard, but at least come back with them and be a part of it."

If Post 10 is able to defend their title, they'll be the first in the state to win the American Legion state baseball title three years in a row.
