NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Deputies are searching for a masked duo they say used a gun to rob two men who were getting cash out of an ATM in an area shopping center late last night.

Sheriff’s deputies say it happened just before 11 p.m. at a Cashpoints ATM in a shopping center at 2307 N. College Road. That’s where they say two men were getting money from the machine when two masked men emerged from behind the ATM.

Deputies say the two robbers had a handgun when they demanded cash and cell phones from the two men, before they took off running towards the back of the shopping center. The two men who were robbed then drove away from the scene towards the Lowe’s Foods across the street to call 911.

One of the suspects is described as a slim black man, who deputies say is about 5’10”-5’10” tall, with long braided hair to his neck. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses with orange sides. The second suspect is described as a heavier black man, who deputies say is right around 6 feet tall, and was wearing a white and black sweatshirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office at (910)798-4162.

If only one of the victims had been legally permitted and trained with a concealed weapon, society might well have rid of two more scum bags. Hey a##h#les, with more and more private citizens getting trained and permitted, you very well may not get away next time. We can all HOPE at least!

..cowboy with a weapon openly hanging off their waist. While it may be legal to open carry, it isn’t necessarily desirable or practical.

In NC you do not need a permit to carry a weapon, just don’t conceal it and you’re golden.
