To the person who updated on the child rescued from the water several days ago, THank You for letting us know how the young one is doing. My family and I were also in the line of cars while the rescue was being made. And wondering what had happened. Then we read the news and we have all been praying hard ever since. We hope that you do keep us updated from time to time, but at the same time we want to give the family privacy. Our hearts go out to the family.
To the bystanders, and concerned on lookers, It is our first instinct to want to ask why or how this could happen, or who was with the child, ect., but who are we to judge any one, at any given moment a bad accident could happen to us, we don't know the situation, and all that really matters is the child is going to be ok by the grace of god.
Why can't everyone just wish the family well and send prayers during their time of need. That's what they need right now!

Please post an update. Was just arriving to the beach yesterday when this happened. Prayed for those involved...just see this news. Would love to know that he is okay.

Emr. officials did not rescue this 3 year old boy. He was rescued by Nathaniel Parker (the owner of the surfboard that the boy was brought to shore on), Ashley (Zeke) Thomas, Heather Kaine, Victoria Powell and Dana Parker. Way to be alert kids, good job!

I was there at the time this happened....Didn't See what exactly had happened at the time, I just wanted to say Ty for all of you guys that helped that poor little boy...What Bravery you showed !!!! Your parents ought to be proud of raising some wonderful kids....Not sure If you're all grown now or not.....But Those Parents Owe U a Lifetime Of Gratitude for saving their child....I have heard conflicting stories about just who the child was with at the time of the incident.....But as a parent I can't imagine the horror that all involved was witnessing ....Much love to you guys !!!!

The young people that rescued the 3 year old boy were Nathaniel Parker (the owner of the surfboard), Ashley (Zeke) Thomas, Heather Kaine, Victoria Powell and Dana Bryan. Way to go kids! Now we would really like an update on this young man.

Was pulled from the ocean by a surfer, not rescue personnel. Looked older then 3, but I could be wrong there... are you guys going to post any updates to this story? there are many who would like to know if the little fella is ok...

...this basic question. Where were the parents? How did a 3 year old get into a situation like this?

That's a lucky little boy right there! Getting a second chance in life like that may require him being put into the custody of some responsible adults!

If you don't know the facts you should keep your mouth shut. What a joke for people to speculate what did or did not happen. Those who are negative should get a life and worry about themselves.

I posted more questions than statements and nothing I said was negative. MOST adults are concerned as to exactly WHY a 3 yr old had to be rescued and there is NO mention of parents. Somebody DIDN'T do something right AND did not follow prudent safety protocol to allow this to happen! Got that?

Now, go settle on back into your easy chair and watch more CNN, K?

They should be held accountable. I don't see how parents are willing to put their child's life at risk by not paying them proper attention when they are near water.

The mother was in the water with him. How dare anyone say anything negative when you don't know the facts! Shame on you! He is stable and showing improvements. Should be taken off breathing and feeding tube tonight. Heart, lungs, and brain are all perfect!

Thank you very much Melissa for the update. My daughter was involved in the rescue (she was the first one on the scene and took the boy from the lady holding him and calling for help, I assume that was the mother.) She was very concerned about his well being and we have been calling the hospital just trying to get an update on his condition. She will be very happy to here he is improving and his prognosis is good! Thank you again!

I know of three incidents in North Myrtle Beach where children were hurt and the parents were nowhere around. If the mother was in the water with him, then how in the world did he get in such a precarious situation?

I suppose you have won parent of the year award. Get a life and how about you pray for the three year old instead of blaming someone of being a bad parent of a family you don't even know.

...a 3 yr old allowed to get close to this sort of danger. Anyone that knows anything about our coastal waters knows they can be dangerous. Inlets (like where this happened) in particular are very, very dangerous even for the most experienced and advanced swimmers. The currents are insurmountable and certainly no place for a 3 year old to be in proximity of, much less "in".

Everyone is ecstatic that this little boy has successfully survived a grueling, near catastrophic event. However, the focus now is that nobody wants to see him go through it again because of whatever was "lacking" the first time!

I have never been perfect, nor have I ever claimed to be. I have never let my children be in a situation where they needed saving. I have never taken them out into the water where it wasn't safe and where I wasn't capable of keeping them safe.
