UPDATE: Police still searching for suspect after shots fired into car

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Police are still searching for a man they say fired shots into a car with several people inside, leaving one of the passengers with two gunshot wounds.

Wilmington Police say officers first responded to ShotSpotter alerts in the 800 block of S. 15th Street. That's where they say police found four shell casings before witnesses told them someone was hit during the shooting.

When police caught up with the victim, who they say was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center, officers say he told them he was leaving Good Times Lounge on Dawson Street with two others when the shooting happened. Police say the victim told them it was when the three got into their vehicle to leave that they heard gunshots.

Officers say the victim, who was in the backseat at the time, was hit twice on the right side, once in the hand and once in the shoulder. Police say witnesses told officers that the shooter appeared to be targeting the vehicle, which was a silver Camry. The shooter was last seen taking off on foot on Wooster Street.
