Hoggard Vikings knock off Stallions in football; Topsail Pirates edge Titans

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — In the season opener for both squads Hoggard High knocked off South Columbus 48-6 in high school football school football on Monday night. 48-6 was the halftime score. Neither team scored in the second half. Due to the new mercy rule the clock ran continuously in the second half.

HAMPSTEAD, NC (WWAY) — Trask held a 7-0 against Topsail going into Monday’s football game. The game actually started on Friday, but the teams only played one half of football before the teams agreed to resume the game on Monday. Neither team scored in the 3rd quarter, but the Topsail Pirates scored two touchdowns in the final quarter to win 16-7. Wayne Inman is the Topsail head coach.
