PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -– Summer vacation is over and the 2014-2015 school year in full swing. With a new school year, we are privileged enough to honor special educators all year as our Teacher of the Week.

This week we headed to Penderlea Middle School to find sixth grade teacher Kelly Regan.

Regan was advising a seventh grade online World History course when we caught her off guard.

“I’m in shock,” she said.

Although she was admittedly embarrassed, Mrs. Regan was smiling from ear to ear.

“It makes me feel really good, appreciated, and special.”

Regan is certainly appreciated, especially by one former student who nominated her for the title. “She cares about her students and wants them to succeed,” the student wrote.

“It means everything. That’s why I am a teacher,” said Regan.

To help her get everything for her classroom, and thanks to Scarless Vein Care by Dr. Karman, Landfall Family Practice, McDonald’s and Staples, she now has $300 to spend on school supplies.
