WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- A Wilmington man faces up to 20 years behind bars after he pleaded guilty in federal court to child pornography charges yesterday.
Police say Todd Balo, 48, was arrested after an investigation in 2012 revealed he was using a peer-to-peer network called Gigatribe out of the Wilmington area. When Balo was interviewed, that's when police say he confessed to sharing child pornography files with others over the past seven years.
After finding and seizing a slew of computers, hard drives and cell phones, police say they found more than 7,000 pictures and nearly 300 videos of child pornography. Balo is scheduled to be sentenced in December. He faces up to 20 years in prison for those crimes.
