WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County's chapter of the American Cancer Society is teaming with Stand Up to Finish the Fight by hosting a big viewing party during a star-studded special broadcast that will hit televisions across the country Friday night.
In hopes to raise awareness and funding for cancer research, organizers say Wilmington was chosen as one of the hundreds of places that will be hosting live viewing parties for the big event.
The live broadcast will be commercial-free, airing on ABC and WWAY NewsChannel 3, along with several other large networks, and will include performances and stories shared about personal experiences with the disease.
Our area's viewing party will be held at Trask Coliseum at 6:30 p.m., and guests there can expect commemorative shirts and a luminaria in honor of the event. Attendees can also get in on food, fun and a silent auction while they're there.
Organizer Tiffany Fountain stopped by Good Morning Carolina to tell us more about the event. Watch the interview for more information, or click here to visit the American Cancer Society's website.
