RAEFORD, NC (AP) — Butterball says it will re-open a Hoke County turkey-cooking plant closed in December by House of Raeford and create 367 jobs.

The Garner-based poultry giant announced Thursday it would purchase a House of Raeford plant in the town of Raeford. The Fayetteville Observer reported company Chief Operating Officer Joe Nalley saying it hopes to re-open the plant in May.

Gov. Pat McCrory attended the announcement at the Raeford town hall. His administration says the company plans to invest $67 million and will create the positions over three years. McCrory’s office says Butterball could receive a state grant of up to $150,000 as part of the move.

House of Raeford closed two turkey operations in the town since 2013, for a loss of more than 1,300 workers.
