PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — An amazing community effort is helping a Pender County family get out of a mold-infested home.

We are very happy to report that through donations to a GoFundMe page and fundraiser yesterday at Papa Murphy’s locations in Wilmington, the Booker family will have enough money to get a free home moved to their property!

Earlier this month, WWAY told you about teacher Tammy Motely, who was trying to help her student Aaliyah and her family get a free home that is set to be demolished in a few days. The owners of the home, who plan to rebuild, say the Bookers can have the house if they can get it moved. The cost of the project is about $7,000, Motely said.

At last check they’re now past their goal of $7,000 with the help of more than $1,000 from Papa Murphy’s and $7,400 from other donations.
