ISLE OF PALMS, SC (AP) — Three sea turtles rehabilitated at the South Carolina Aquarium in Charleston are swimming in the ocean again after being released on the Isle of Palms.
The turtles released Monday included two loggerheads and one green turtle. In the past 15 years, the aquarium’s sea turtle hospital has rehabilitated and released 166 turtles.
One of the turtles released Monday was McAdoo, a 50-pound loggerhead found in Myrtle Beach last August after being struck by a boat and suffering a shark bite.
The other loggerhead was named Buck. The 105-pound turtle was found dehydrated and lethargic by a dock in McCellanville last July. A juvenile green sea turtle named Bohicket was found floating at Bohicket Marina on Johns Island in April with a blockage in its digestive tract.
